Try LudoSport for the first time
A Discovery Session is the best way to experience LudoSport before joining weekly classes.
You do not need any previous experience. You do not need to be especially fit. You do not need to know anyone already. You just need to turn up, get involved, and see whether this is something you’d like to continue.
LudoSport is a structured, athletic lightsaber sport with a clear training system, welcoming instructors, and a community built around learning, respect, movement, and play.
Whether you’re looking for something active, something social, or simply something very different from the usual gym routine, your first session is designed to help you feel comfortable from the start.
What happens in a Discovery Session?
Every LudoSport school runs things slightly differently, but your first session will usually include:

a friendly welcome from the instructors

a short introduction to LudoSport and how the session works

a light warm-up

basic movement and safety guidance

simple exercises with a light saber

partner drills at a beginner-friendly pace

time to ask questions about weekly classes and membership
The session is not a test. Nobody expects you to know what you’re doing. The whole point is to give you a proper first experience in a safe, supportive environment.
Do I need to be fit?
No.
A Discovery Session is light physical activity and is suitable for complete beginners, including people who do not currently consider themselves fit.
You may get warm and you will be moving around, but the session is designed to be accessible. You can take things at your own pace, and the instructors will guide you through everything step by step.
Many people start LudoSport because they want to become more active, not because they are already athletic.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in, similar to what you might wear for a light fitness class.
We recommend:

a T-shirt or sports top

joggers, leggings, shorts, or comfortable training trousers

a bottle of water
You do not need to bring any specialist kit. Sabers are provided for Discovery Sessions.
Most venues are community halls or sports spaces, so changing facilities vary by location. It is usually best to arrive already dressed and ready to take part.
What if I'm nervous?
That is completely normal.
A lot of people arrive at their first session feeling unsure. They worry they will look silly, that everyone else will be better, that they will not be fit enough, or that they will not know what to do.
You will not be the only beginner. You will not be thrown in at the deep end. You will not be expected to perform.
Your instructors are there to introduce you to the basics, keep the session safe, and help you enjoy your first step into LudoSport.
Is this just for people who are already into sci-fi?
No.
Plenty of people are drawn to LudoSport because they like light sabers, science fiction, games, fantasy, or other geeky interests. That is absolutely welcome.
But LudoSport is not roleplay, cosplay, or acting. It is a real sport with its own rules, techniques, forms, competitions, and progression system.
You do not need to know anything about films, fandom, or fictional universes to enjoy it.
Will I get hit?
LudoSport involves controlled contact with light sabers, but your first session is focused on safe, beginner-friendly exercises.
You will be shown how to move, how to work with a partner, and how to stay in control. The aim is not to hit hard. The aim is to learn timing, distance, coordination, and clean technique.
Respect and safety are central to how LudoSport is taught.
What happens after the Discovery Session?
If you enjoy the session, your local school will explain how to join regular weekly classes.
Classes are location-dependent, so your instructor will confirm the available options, training times, and the best next step for you.
